Women’s Economic Empowerment Action

Nigeria

Women’s Economic Empowerment Action (WEEMA) provides advocacy services for the economic empowerment of women in Nigeria.  Through the organization, women are given the opportunity to receive micro-credit loans and implement small businesses on their own.

SHARE Sponsored Programs:

2001:

The SHARE Institute provided a mini-grant to the WEEMA for the continuation of the organization’s micro-credit program offered for women.  With the loans, women are able to pursue business interests that involve making crafts and selling the items made.  Once the women’s businesses are successful, they pay the loan back allowing other women the chance to implement their business ideas through micro-credit loans.
