Enviro-Slums Improvement Association

Egypt

The Enviro-Slums Improvement Association is a non-governmental organization (NGO) that works to spread literacy and environmental awareness among the very poor neighborhoods of Giza Governorate in Egypt.  The organization also teaches sewing and needlework skills since these services are a major source of income for many poor Egyptian women.

SHARE Sponsored Programs:

2003:

The SHARE Institute funded Enviro-Slums Improvement Association with a mini-grant to purchase sewing machines and materials, but also to hire a trainer to teach women sewing and needlework skills.  The new trainees produced school uniforms and used money to improve their economic conditions.
