Mustard Seed School

Project Objective:

Interns prepare spring baskets for homeless children. The baskets include books, a toothbrush and toothpaste, drawing pencils, candy and other items that the children will find useful or fun. Children at the Mustard Seed School receive 20-80 baskets every spring. 

2013:

In March, the interns of the SHARE Institute continued one of their favorite projects:  assembling Spring Baskets to be delivered to homeless children in the Sacramento region.  An assortment of supplies was contributed by each intern, including reading workbooks, crayons, candy, toys, and anything else that would be appealing to a child between the ages of 4 and 10.  The interns’ efforts resulted in a total of 31 unique and thoughtfully decorated baskets.  The baskets were donated to children attending the Mustard Seed School.

2011:

In April, 2011, the SHARE Institute donated twenty-four spring baskets to the children of the Mustard Seed School in Sacramento, California. The baskets contained basic hygiene items as well as fun items, such as coloring books and crayons, which were provided by the interns. The SHARE Institute has been partnering with the Mustard Seed School for the past five years to provide gift baskets to the children.

2010:

In March 2010, interns of The SHARE Institute came together to assemble ‘Spring Baskets’ for students and children in the Sacramento Region, a continuing tradition of The SHARE Institute.  The interns searched stores for bargain deals and items that would appeal to children between the ages of 8 to 11 years old.  The items were carefully selected to make sure each basket would be unique and appealing it’s recipient.

In total, approximately 60 baskets were decorated and filled with books, crayons, activity books, socks, candies, stickers, school supplies, and other small toys.  The baskets were split evenly and hand-delivered to both St. John’s Shelter, and Mustard Seed in Sacramento.  The interns worked very hard to make this program a success and the children really enjoyed the baskets!

2009:

In April 2009, interns of The SHARE Institute came together to assemble ‘Spring Baskets’ for students and children in the Sacramento Region.  The interns searched stores for bargain deals and items that would appeal to children between the ages of 8 to 11 years old.  Approximately 80 baskets were decorated and filled with books, crayons, activity books, socks, candies, stickers, school supplies, and other small toys.  The majority of the baskets were hand-delivered to a local elementary school in Del Paso Heights, and the remaining baskets were delivered to Mustard Seed in Sacramento

2008:

Our interns are also currently soliciting local business to gain donations of children’s books, toys, crayons, and other items to create Easter baskets for children.  These baskets will be donated to children in the area in hopes of bringing a smile to a child’s face and a spark of warmth to their heart.  This project has been implemented in the past with great success, and we look forward to seeing the results of this effort this Easter!

2007:

The SHARE Institute interns put several Spring Baskets together for local homeless children. The baskets included hygiene items as well as toys and candy. These colorful baskets brought smiles to the faces of children receiving them as well as the interns who put them together. 

2006:

The SHARE interns made 20 Spring Baskets for the children of the Mustard Seed School, a local non-profit organization that provides educational programs to homeless children.  The children received toys, tooth brushes, granola bars, and art supplies in their baskets.

2004:

SHARE interns assembled Spring Baskets for children attending the Mustard Seed School.  The children and volunteers were overjoyed to receive the colorful baskets filled with toys, juice boxes, school supplies, and other treats.  

For the winter holiday season, SHARE interns assembled gift bags for children attending the Mustard Seed School, a non-profit organization serving homeless children.  The bags were filled with juice boxes, toys, books, gloves, and other items these children might enjoy during the holidays.

2003:

Mustard Seed is a local non-profit organization that serves homeless children. In the fall of 2003, SHARE’s interns put together 30 Halloween trick-or-treat buckets full of goodies for the children. The buckets contained boxes of juice, toys, small books, candy, and hygiene items.
